Expand to learn more

It is used for selected viral warts, keratotic lesions and other benign skin changes.

Before treatment, the doctor confirms that freezing is appropriate and safe for the lesion.

Redness, a blister or a scab may develop and then heal gradually.

Some lesions require several sessions at suitable intervals.

How to prepare

  1. 1

    Have the lesion assessed

Qualification is essential because not every lesion can be safely frozen.

  2. 2

    Do not irritate it

Do not scrape, cut or use aggressive products on the lesion before your appointment.

  3. 3

    Plan simple aftercare

Depending on the site, a simple dry dressing may be useful after treatment.

Frequently asked questions

Is freezing painful?

Stinging or burning can occur during treatment, and the area may remain tender for a short time.

Will a blister form?

A blister, swelling or scab can be a normal tissue response to cold. The doctor will explain aftercare.

Is one treatment enough?

This depends on the type, size and location of the lesion. Some warts, for example, need repeated sessions.
